■About Public NTP Service

Since October 1993, Fukuoka University has provided public NTP service (time synchronization service) using GPS to the world. There is the IPv4 address providing NTP service as follows.

  • 133.100.9.2
  • 133.100.11.8 (ceased providing the service on March 12, 2019)

However, in recent years traffic of this service has been increasing, and as of January 2021, approximately 220Mbps which is the average daily bandwidth and approximately 288,000pps (packets per second) are constantly receiving. As it is, there is a danger that it will have a serious impact on the stable operation of the campus network, so we are currently implementing bandwidth limitations. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

In addition, the traffic is still increasing little by little, so it is difficult to stably operate the campus network, so we have decided to “cease this service in the future”. We will conduct various experiments in the future and prepare for the service stop while consulting with network operators. When the stop the date is decided, we will publicize.
